The Joys of freedom prevails at Bolpur town. The passing away of Gurudev Rabindranath grief has erased the wounds of famine and partition of nation. This wounds are much more pathetic and true then the cultural practice, love and sense. But the truth and brutality couldn’t curb the theatre practice. Amateur theatre practice was prevalent at Bolpur like other parts of Birbhum in pre independent period. This practice still in force despite the wave of freedom. Approximately in 40’s ‘Bastughughu Club’ of Kalibaroyaritala and an amateur theatre group named ‘Shrinatyam’ in 50’s was involved in theatre at Bolpur.
